Blogging
I thoroughly recommend, and am a big fan of, WordPress for blogging. While the WordPress.com hosted option is fine for personal blogs, for full freedom, including the ability to use plugins, customise code, custom themes etc, you will need a self-hosted version of WordPress.
You can view my WordPress related blog posts here. In addition, I have a number of blog entries on WordPress plugins.
Previous Projects
David McWilliams
The David McWilliams website is one big blog, powered by WordPress.
Although not a very “bloggy” site, I felt that the wealth of 3rd party plugins and tools available with WordPress would be a real bonus. This has proved correct. The Akismet comment spam plugin has stopped 71,000+ spam comments from showing on the site since October 2006, saving a lot of administration time.
In addition to plain text articles, the site also has audio and video streams, again utilising plugins or code I custom developed.
Overall, WordPress handles the management of the content well, without having to install a full Content Management System

Cloch Internet
Development of the Cloch Internet blog. A straightforward WordPress blog, with integration of the navigation elements to the main Cloch Internet site to allow visitors easily move between the blog located at a sub domain, and the website proper.
Site is available at bloch.cloch.com
Private Client
My client, a consulting company, wanted an easy way (no on-site training was required to get them publishing) to make their regular research bulletins available to their client.
A wordpress blog is an easy way for them to publish this content, and some modifications of the WordPress code has allowed the blog to only be accessible to authorised users who can use the blog site to read the latest research and comment on it using the WordPress comments system as a mini talk-shop at the end of each post.
